Beloved Fur Babies – When You Lose Them

They automatically take the ‘marriage vow’. They give unconditional love -in sickness and in health until death due us part- and only want the same in return. They are an ever-present uplifting energy in your life. They are as social as we are, needing attention, interaction, stimulation, encouragement, protection, discipline, education, rewards, love, and togetherness.

Roger (Havanese from a breeder in NY) and Charlie (terrier mix from Pet Finders) were the odd couple! But they were brothers who adored each other, sibling rivalry and all! They also adored us, and we adored them!

We lost Charlie in March of 2026 to heart failure at the age of 16. Roger at 15, was healthy but completely changed. We couldn’t console him. Despite double the walks each day, extra treats, new puzzles, more time at home… it wasn’t enough. We weren’t enough. He couldn’t bounce back. He stopped eating, didn’t move all day… lost all his strength. He died of a broken heart in June.

But we know we gave them both a fun and loving life, and they did the same in return, as long as they could. So I want to share some of the memories below, and let them live here on my blog, where we can come back and visit anytime. ❤️🐾❤️🐾

Feel free to share a comment or story about your loving pet at the bottom of this page.
